Temp Part-Time Faculty in Human Services
About The Position
The University of New Mexico Gallup Branch Nursing and Human Services Division is seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lower division classes (1000/2000 Level) in Human Services and related disciplines. These positions are for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM. Instructors will be responsible for all aspects of teaching, including face-to-face or online instruction, content delivery, assignment development, grading, and student learning assessment. Positions are contingent upon departmental needs, student enrollment, and course offerings each semester. The University of New Mexico established branch colleges to provide high-quality education tailored to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respective communities, offering community education, career and technical education, and transfer programs.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field; or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in any of those fields previously listed.
- Ability to teach face-to-face and/or online lower division courses.
- Ability to report to the NHS Division Chair.
- Ability to provide an official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to their initial employment with UNM.
- Ability to provide an updated curriculum vitae.
- Ability to provide transcript(s) sufficient to assess minimum qualifications.
- Ability to provide a cover letter indicating which discipline(s) you are interested in teaching, the days/times you are available to teach, and how your education satisfies the minimum qualifications criteria.
- Ability to provide three professional references who can speak to your directly relevant knowledge, skills, and experience, including both phone number and email addresses.

Nice To Haves
- Doctorate degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field
- One or more years college or adult teaching experience at a branch/community college or similar institution
- Clinical experiences in the area of expertise such as child welfare, mental health, public health, diabetes prevention or domestic violence etc.
- Clinical experience in area of substance abuse
- Has a license through the NM Counseling and Therapy Practice Board
- Demonstrated ability to work in groups in a collaborative atmosphere
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied culture of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities
Responsibilities
- Meeting face-to-face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings or weekends
