About The Position

The University of New Mexico’s Gallup Branch, Liberal Arts & Education Division, is seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lower division face-to-face and/or online courses during the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2027 semesters. UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for all aspects of their classes, including meeting with students, content delivery, assignment development, grading, and student learning assessment. Positions are contingent upon semester-specific needs determined by student enrollment and course offerings. Candidates selected will report to the division chair.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
• At least three years teaching experience in an early childhood setting or at the elementary education level.
• An updated curriculum vitae.
• Transcript(s) sufficient to assess minimum qualifications.
• Cover Letter indicating discipline(s) of interest, availability, and how education satisfies minimum qualifications.
• Three (3) professional references and their contact information (phone number and/or email addresses).
• All attachments must be provided in PDF format.
• Official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to initial employment.

Nice To Haves

• Doctorate degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
• At least three years of college-level teaching experience.
• A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.

Responsibilities

• Teach face-to-face and/or online lower division courses (1000/2000 Level).
• Meet with the class during assigned times that may include evenings or weekends.
• Deliver course content.
• Develop assignments.
• Grade assignments.
• Report grades.
• Assess student learning as outlined by the division chair.
