About The Position

The Teller position at Austin Bank in Tyler Cumberland is responsible for understanding and complying with regulatory requirements for financial transactions, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Customer Identification Program (CIP). The role emphasizes providing superior customer service, building strong customer relationships, and promoting loyalty to Austin Bank. Tellers are expected to contribute to a teamwork atmosphere, stay informed about company communications, and develop their professional skills through ongoing training. Upholding the organization's values, particularly ethics, integrity, and confidentiality, is paramount. Responsibilities include processing various deposits, cashing checks, completing required reports, managing a cash drawer, promoting bank products, processing payments, handling stop payments, balancing cash drawers, assisting with wire transfers and debit card disputes, filing records, verifying new account information, opening mail, and answering telephone calls. Tellers are also expected to cross-train in other areas, maintain confidentiality, report to work regularly, and contribute to departmental policies and objectives.

  • Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, examines checks for proper endorsements and issues receipt for deposit amount.
  • Places holds on checks accepted for deposits, if warranted, in accordance with regulations.
  • Cashes checks after verification of customer signatures and balances.
  • Obtains positive identification of payee.
  • Obtains information and completes Currency Transaction Reports for submission to BSA Officer.
  • Prepares Suspicious Activity Reports when applicable.
  • Maintains teller cash drawer within required limits.
  • Explains, promotes and/or sells bank products or services such as travelers checks, savings bonds, money orders and cashier’s checks, etc.
  • Maintains appropriate log of cash sale of Cashier’s Checks and travelers checks per requirements of Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Accepts utility bill and loan payments.
  • Processes TT&L, EFTPS payments and cash advances.
  • Places stop payments on checks and drafts as requested by customer.
  • Balances teller cash drawer and cash vault daily.
  • Accepts information for outgoing wire transfers.
  • Assists customers in preparing documentation on debit card disputes.
  • Assists in filing bank records/documentation.
  • Verifies next day new account information and account file maintenance.
  • Opens/processes mail as required.
  • Answers telephone calls taking messages, forwarding calls or providing assistance to customers.
  • Cross-trains in other areas.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work regularly and promptly.
