The Teller position at Financial Plus Credit Union (FPCU) is a part-time role within the Member Service department, reporting to the Assistant Branch Manager. Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to adhere to internal policies as well as external policies and regulations set forth by the NCUA.

  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Must be out of probationary period to apply.
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalency or higher.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and relevant systems.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Ability to learn products and services and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Must have at least a $2,500 approval limit or higher.
  • Must be flexible, adapt to change, solve problems, and be multi-task oriented.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and exhibit a professional demeanor.
  • Must have good computer skills and be detail-oriented and thorough on paperwork.
  • Must be able to operate customary office machines such as photocopier, fax, and phone system.
  • Must have great over/short track record.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems and seek solutions for members.
  • Represents FPCU with professionalism and purpose, communicating with members through respectful and solution-focused verbal and written communications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, money orders, disbursements, and check cashing.
  • Explain, promote, and cross-sell credit union products and services.
  • Understand and explain credit union policies and procedures to members.
  • Balance cash drawer, coin, currency, and checks to source documents and system totals at the end of each shift.
  • Cashing checks and disbursing funds after verifying signatures and sufficiency of funds.
  • Accepting deposits and confirming transaction accuracy.
  • Evaluating checks for endorsements, dates, identification, bank names, and overall legality.
  • Maintaining a work area that ensures the safety of negotiables and confidential records.
  • Following proper cash handling procedures.
  • Being proficient in using the Symitar system.
  • Loading and unloading cash recycler and ATMs.
  • Examining checks for endorsements and negotiability to determine if a hold is needed.
  • Responding to member requests, problems, and complaints, or directing them to the appropriate person.
  • Receiving member account information and routing it to the proper person.
  • Providing professional, friendly, and accurate service to all members.
  • Following teller standards with all members.
  • Training new hires on proper teller duties when needed.
  • Serving as an example and backup to the teller trainer.
  • Providing SPARK! Member service, demonstrating strong communication skills, and finding solutions to difficult problems.
  • Enforcing compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, including BSA, Patriot Act, and OFAC requirements, and requesting legal interpretation as necessary.
  • Adhering to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and internal compliance with standard policies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
