About The Position

The Teller I role is responsible for assisting customers with their financial transactions, which includes paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments. This position involves handling deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments, as well as selling cashier's checks and transferring funds between accounts. The Teller I also answers customer inquiries, recommends appropriate bank products and services, and makes referrals to other bank personnel. Balancing the cash drawer daily, maintaining currency limits, and preparing work for imaging are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the Teller I reports large currency transactions and suspicious activity to their supervisor, and may be responsible for ATM settlement and processing.

Requirements

One month to twelve months of similar or related experience.
A high school education or GED.
Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (Customers or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch.
Must be good with detail to deal with numbers and names.
Frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or clients and access office machinery and file cabinets.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer.
Standing for extended periods; may require stooping and lifting coin trays and bags.

Responsibilities

Receives and processes customer financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells cashier's checks to customers; transfers amounts from customer account as directed.
Answers customer inquiries and recommends appropriate products and services; makes referrals to appropriate bank personnel.
Balances cash drawer and daily transactions; keeps currency in drawer within currency limits; sells excess currency to vault teller.
Prepares and sends work for imaging/processing.
Makes reports of large currency transactions and reports any suspicious activity to supervisor.
May be responsible for ATM settlement and processing of ATM deposits.
Performs other duties as assigned.
