About The Position

The Teller I position at SouthState Bank is responsible for taking ownership of all tasks and challenges encountered in the operation of their assigned position. This role serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the SouthState Bank Service Standards. Tellers are expected to know and understand the products and services offered by the Bank, identify customer needs and expectations, and seek opportunities to expand customer relationships through referrals. The role also involves maintaining a professional appearance, assessing and managing risks, ensuring compliance with banking regulations, and developing a strong understanding of customer-facing technology to assist customers with self-service options. Specific teller duties include processing transactions for various accounts, maintaining a neat work area, assisting in training new tellers, allowing customers access to safe deposit boxes, cashing checks and processing withdrawals within assigned limits, selling certified checks, balancing transactions daily, and potentially servicing ATMs and utilizing branch capture systems. Tellers must know and follow all policies and procedures related to transactions, operational errors, workflow, and security/audit procedures.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the SouthState Bank Service Standards.

  • Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues.

  • Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Assist in guiding and training new tellers.
  • Allow customers access to safe deposit boxes.
  • Cash checks and process savings withdrawals within assigned limits and in accordance with prescribed procedures.
