About The Position

The Teleradiology Physician will provide final teleradiology interpretation services for all assigned diagnostic imaging studies. This role requires a Board Certified Radiologist with experience in teleradiology, proficiency in various medical systems, and the ability to interpret all imaging modalities. The physician will be responsible for dictating and signing reports within 24 hours, reporting STAT results within 1 hour, and communicating urgent findings immediately. The position also involves consulting with referring physicians, providing technical direction to technologists, documenting interpretations, and complying with all relevant policies and regulations. Participation in quality assurance activities is also expected.

Requirements

  • Board Certification in Radiology (ABR)
  • Current full and unrestricted State Medical License
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Medical Degree with completion of Accredited Radiology Residency Program (ACGME or AOA accredited)
  • Sufficient experience to maintain Board Certification and perform independent teleradiology interpretations
  • Proficiency with PACS, VistA, and CPRS systems
  • Experience with voice recognition (VR) software for report dictation
  • Knowledge of ACR and TJC standards for radiology reporting
  • Ability to read and interpret all modalities: Plain Films, CT, MRI/MRA, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and Mammography
  • Strong communication skills for critical findings reporting per ACR standards
  • DEA Certificate – if currently held, must be disclosed during credentialing

Responsibilities

  • Provide final teleradiology interpretation services for all assigned diagnostic imaging studies
  • Dictate and electronically sign all reports within 24 hours of image receipt
  • Report STAT results verbally to requesting physician within 1 hour of image transmission
  • Communicate urgent findings immediately by phone or in person to the ordering provider
  • Consult with referring physicians on appropriate radiologic study selection
  • Provide technical direction to radiology technologists for protocoling examinations
  • Document all interpretations in VistA/CPRS per VA and TJC standards
  • Comply with all VAMC policies, HIPAA regulations, and VA mandatory training requirements
  • Participate in OPPE, peer review, and quality assurance activities
