About The Position

Ensures continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms by observing cardiac monitors; maintains all records and reports of rhythm strips in accordance with the established nursing standards and procedures. This is a full-time, day-shift position working Mon-Fri. You will either work five 8-hour shifts 7a-3:30pm or three 12-hour shifts from 7a-7p based on department needs. Lead position does require 3 years' Telemetry Tech experience.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Three years' experience
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and provides input to leadership team regarding supply stock levels/equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment.
  • Utilizes time and supplies economically and conscientiously.
  • Assists with orientation/cross-training of new personnel on the unit.
  • Acts as a mentor and/or resource person to new or developing employees.
  • Maintains and enhances arrhythmia analysis skills by participation in education activities.
  • Provides input regarding personal or unit educational needs.
  • Handles and operates cardiac monitors, printers, and other equipment properly and carefully as recommended in user’s manual, with the ability to recognize and report wear or malfunction.
  • Operates central monitor/work station and accessories in a competent manner.
  • Utilizes varied functions and capabilities of central monitor station equipment by successfully completing orientation checklist.
  • Utilizes automated processes and clinical information systems appropriately and efficiently.
  • Assists with general clerical duties as needed.
  • Provides immediate information to nursing personnel of change in cardiac monitor status.
  • Notifies charge nurse, and follows established policy, if nurse does not immediately place patient back on monitor.
  • Evaluates care given by team members and gives feedback.
  • Effectively supervises team members and maintains accountability for standard of care provided.
  • Acts as a resource to other team members.
  • Organizes and utilizes time efficiently.
  • Demonstrates appropriate prioritization.
  • Maintains an organized work environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively on a team.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with patients, significant others, multidisciplinary team members and co-workers.
