About The Position

The Lead Technician oversees the safe operation of the production floor, executes the production schedule, and provides technical support and direction to employees. This role involves performing extrusion line checks, collaborating with Quality Assurance and Compounding Departments, and reporting equipment issues. The Lead Technician also manages housekeeping, enforces packaging standards, handles administrative duties, troubleshoots machine problems, and may fill in for Supervisors or Extrusion Technicians.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous manufacturing experience or five (5) years of experience as Extrusion Operator/Technician
  • Fork lift license to operate various forklifts

Responsibilities

  • Oversees together with the supervisor the safe operation of the entire production floor
  • Responsible to execute the production schedule
  • Provides supervision, technical support, and direction to all employees assigned to the machine group
  • Responsible for performing periodical extrusion line checks
  • Follows company established procedures and enforces company regulations
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance Department to resolve quality issues
  • Coordinates with the Compounding Department and Plant Management to ensure material is available for extrusion
  • Reports breakdowns and equipment problems to Shift Maintenance
  • Directs housekeeping efforts to maintain a clean and hazard free work area
  • Enforce material packaging standards and scrap segregation requirements
  • Receive and direct incoming phone calls during non-business hours
  • Responsible to perform routine administrative duties
  • Troubleshoot tooling machine problems and provide feedback to Production Supervisor
  • Fill in for Supervisors or Extrusion Technicians on vacation or absences with other Lead Technicians
  • All other duties assigned
