About The Position

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Telemetry Technician continuously monitors and interprets ECG monitors. The technician documents rhythm interpretations, changes, and other pertinent information on required records, and communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients, and/or their families or significant others. This is a part-time, on-site day-shift position at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes, scheduled for 24 total hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must be capable of successfully completing a Basic Dysrhythmia course and passing the test for Telemetry Technicians.
Strong organizational and interprofessional skills.
Ability to determine an appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize work schedules.
Ability to operate electronic computer-based equipment.

Nice To Haves

3–6 months of previous experience.
Knowledge of dysrhythmia and heart blocks.
Knowledge of SpO2 monitoring and alarm response.

Responsibilities

Continuously observe and interpret ECG monitors.
Identify changes in a patient’s ECG and communicate them appropriately to the Registered Nurse.
Notify nursing staff of technical monitor problems.
Document calculations and interpretations on required forms.
Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles, particularly when processing and working with equipment.
Record required information on departmental forms as needed.
Assist with orientation of the healthcare team, performance improvement activities, and maintenance of departmental competencies.
Communicate with and support the healthcare team, patients, and/or families or significant others.
