About The Position

The Telemetry Technician, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, continuously monitors and interprets ECG monitors. The technician documents rhythm interpretations, changes, and other pertinent information, and communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients, and/or their family or significant others. This is a part-time, on-site night-shift role at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes in Mount Holly.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must be capable of successfully completing a Basic Dysrhythmia course and passing the test for Telemetry Technicians.
Strong organizational and interprofessional skills.
Ability to determine an appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize work schedules.
Ability to operate electronic computer-based equipment.

Nice To Haves

3–6 months of previous experience preferred.
Knowledge of dysrhythmia and heart blocks, as well as SPO2 monitoring and alarm response, preferred.

Responsibilities

Continuously observe and interpret ECG monitors.
Identify changes in a patient’s ECG and communicate them to the RN; notify nursing staff of technical monitor problems.
Document calculations and rhythm interpretations on required forms.
Follow standard precautions and patient-safety principles, particularly when processing and working with equipment.
Record required information on departmental forms as needed.
Assist with orientation of the healthcare team, performance improvement activities, and maintaining departmental competencies.
Communicate with and support the healthcare team, patients, and/or family or significant others.
