About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician helps support patient care by continuously observing assigned monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, maintaining monitor alarms, and responding to alarms promptly and appropriately. The position is per diem, scheduled for 4 12-hour shifts in a 6-week period, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Select Specialty Hospital - Weirton, located inside Weirton Medical Center. Compensation is $21.00 per hour, with shift differentials for weekends.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting in the position.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate and timely responses to alarms.
• Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to all alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
