About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Memphis East is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician supports patient care by continuously monitoring assigned EKG monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, maintaining monitor alarms, and responding to alarms promptly and appropriately. The role is per diem/PRN, with 12-hour day shifts, and is located in Memphis, Tennessee, inside Baptist East.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting in the position.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
• Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to all alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
