About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Erie is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician contributes to patient care by continuously monitoring assigned telemetry, responding to alarms, identifying rhythms and artifacts, and completing EKG interpretations. Strip interpretations must be validated by an RN. This is a per diem/PRN position with 12-hour day shifts in Erie, Pennsylvania, paying $22.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
• Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed, promptly and appropriately.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
