About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Midtown Atlanta is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician continuously monitors assigned patients, identifies rhythms and artifacts, maintains monitor alarms, and responds promptly and appropriately to alarms. The role also includes completing EKG interpretations and ensuring that strip interpretations are validated by an RN.

This is a full-time day position scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, with compensation of $20.51 to $25.00 per hour. Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate and timely responses to alarms.
• Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
