About The Position

Powers Health is hiring a Telemetry Monitor Tech for the IMCU West unit at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana. The IMCU is a multidisciplinary, 24-hour unit on the third floor of the Parkview Tower. It admits patients over age 12, with an average patient age of 67. Most patients have medical diagnoses, though surgical patients are also admitted. Common diagnoses include angina, rule-out or post-myocardial infarction, cardiac dysrhythmia, coronary artery disease, COPD, CHF, pre- and post-PTCA, post-stent care, surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring or postoperative observation, diabetes, CVA, and peripheral vascular disease. The role supports the multidisciplinary team in providing high-quality, cost-effective care, with a focus on vigilant telemetry monitoring and communication of EKG changes. The position also routinely performs Unit Secretary duties as assigned. The schedule includes evening and day shifts, with every third weekend and rotating holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Complete and pass the EKG Class for Monitor Techs within 30 days of hire.
BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care.
Use effective communication in interactions and when relaying important EKG changes to nursing staff.
Maintain competency in EKG interpretation, monitoring-system computer skills, and other job-related functions.
Vigilantly monitor EKGs and report and document dysrhythmias according to policy.
Perform Unit Secretary duties for the unit as assigned.
