About The Position

The Telemetry Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), also referred to as a Telemetry Nursing Assistant, Cardiac CNA, or Patient Care Technician, works on the Telemetry unit assisting registered nurses in caring for patients who require continuous monitoring of their heart and vital signs. Patients may have cardiac conditions, post-surgical needs, or other medical issues requiring close monitoring. The role works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

This is a full-time position of 36 hours per week, working 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire; required.
• Current BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Measure and document blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
• Observe cardiac monitors and report irregularities to nursing staff.
• Ensure telemetry leads and equipment are properly placed and functioning.
• Watch for changes in patients’ conditions, such as increased discomfort, difficulty breathing, or altered mental status, and promptly notify the RN.
• Assist patients with getting in and out of bed, walking, repositioning, and using assistive devices.
• Act as a liaison between patients and the nursing team.
