About The Position
The Certified Nursing Assistant in the telemetry unit supports patients who require continuous monitoring of their heart and vital signs. Telemetry patients may have cardiac conditions, post-surgical needs, or other medical issues requiring close monitoring. The CNA provides essential support to patients under close cardiac monitoring and acts as a liaison between patients and the nursing team. Mission Regional Medical Center is a 297-bed, non-profit hospital providing inpatient and outpatient services to the Rio Grande Valley. It is a member of Prime Healthcare and has offered healthcare services for over 60 years.
Requirements
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
- Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office.
Responsibilities
- Measure and document vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
- Observe patients for changes in condition, including increased discomfort, difficulty breathing, or changes in mental status, and report findings to the RN.
- Observe cardiac monitors and report irregularities to the nursing staff.
- Ensure telemetry leads and equipment are properly placed and functioning.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the nursing team.
