About The Position

Merakey is seeking a part-time Telehealth Psychiatrist to support their Outpatient Services programs in Harrisburg, PA and Carlisle, PA. This role involves providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment for adults with behavioral health needs, collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality, accessible psychiatric care through telehealth. The position requires 10-12 hours per week plus 1 hour per week supporting the Mobile Psychiatric Nursing (MPN) program.

Requirements

  • Psychiatrist with an active, unrestricted Pennsylvania license.
  • Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines, including clinical and clerical staff.
  • Expert assessment, diagnostic, and psychopharmacological treatment skills.
  • Professional credentials should be current as dictated by the State licensing standards and Professional Licensing Board.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish accurate diagnoses using evidence-based practices.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee individualized treatment plans in collaboration with therapists, nurses, case managers, peer specialists, psychiatric rehabilitation specialists, and other members of the treatment team.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications while ensuring safe medication management and adherence to Merakey policies regarding prescription renewals and electronic prescribing.
  • Provide crisis intervention, psychiatric consultation, and ongoing medication management for individuals participating in the Partial Hospitalization Program.
  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Educate individuals and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment recommendations, medications, potential side effects, and expected outcomes while obtaining informed consent.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment meetings, case conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review activities to support high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, community partners, and external behavioral health providers to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.
