About The Position

This role involves supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data and telecommunications transport networks. The technician will provide project support for telecom field operations, coordinate with various stakeholders including internal business partners, vendors, and contractors, and escort tower crews and external contractors to telecom sites. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate records of circuits, equipment inventories, and site documentation, as well as installing standard hardware and software devices. The position requires adherence to safe work practices and the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.

Requirements

3–5 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications systems, including digital microwave, fiber optic networks, LANs, voice systems, and wireless data communications.
Understanding of telecom, wireless, data, and voice network topologies and how they interface with one another.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software associated with personal computers, peripheral devices, telecommunications systems, alarm systems, and DC power systems.
Knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, software components, and troubleshooting techniques for voice and data wireless systems.
Experience racking and stacking network and telecom equipment.
Strong personal computer skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good verbal and written communication skills, along with solid time management and organizational skills.
Valid driver’s license.
At least one year of verifiable driving experience as a licensed driver (a learner’s permit does not count), and no revocation of driving privileges.
Ability to travel as needed within the Georgia Power footprint and occasionally beyond.
