About The Position

Telecommunications Technician Dexian Government Solutions is recruiting for a Telecommunications Technician to support our contract at the NMCP in Portsmouth, VA. This role is 100% Onsite at NMC Portsmouth. The Telecommunications Technician plans installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components. They establish communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment. This includes installing fiber optic and copper cabling, voice and data information outlets, related components, communications racks, patch panels, telecommunications blocks, and IT and telecommunications wiring. The technician will test voice and data circuits using state-of-the-art test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. They will be involved in the operation and maintenance of voice, data, and video communication systems, providing diagnostics to maintain telecommunications equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting problems and contacting appropriate vendors for service. The role also involves researching, recommending, and implementing new technologies to ensure effective telecommunications services, and maintaining contact with vendors regarding enhancements or replacements for existing services and products.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in related field. A total of three years of working experience in these fields may be substituted for the academic requirement.
  • Three years of experience and working knowledge of all phases of Wide Area range-based fiber-optic telecommunications network design, which includes network operating systems, software and hardware integration, infrastructure planning/installation, and enterprise management.
  • Three years of experience conducting network performance analysis.
  • Three years of experience performing telecommunications maintenance, maintaining vendor relations, and recommending systems procurement.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability.
  • IAT II: Security+ce Certification is Required to Start
  • NACLAC Clearance is Required to Start
  • This role requires customer approval, suitability to hold a public trust and successful completion of a preemployment background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with Cisco 6500 series layer 3 switch
  • Assists in telecommunications network analysis, design, implementation and maintenance
  • Diagnoses faults and effects minor repairs to telecommunication equipment
  • Installs, runs performance tests; modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs wireless and telecommunications systems
  • Responsible for integrating efforts of various engineering and other technical disciplines into a cohesive product or program involving fiber-optic telecommunications networks
