About The Position

This is a Contract position based out of Austell, GA. The role involves supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data and telecommunications transport networks. The technician will provide project support for telecom field operations, coordinate with internal business partners, vendors, contractors, and other technical groups, and escort tower crews and external contractors to telecom sites. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate circuit records, equipment inventories, and site documentation, as well as installing standard hardware and software devices. The position requires following safe work practices, managing multiple assignments effectively, and traveling as needed within the Georgia Power footprint and occasionally beyond.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications systems, including digital microwave, fiber optic networks, LANs, voice systems, and wireless data communications.
  • Understanding of telecom, wireless, data, and voice network topologies and how they interface with one another.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software associated with personal computers, peripheral devices, telecommunications systems, alarm systems, and DC power systems.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, software components, and troubleshooting techniques for voice and data wireless systems.
  • Experience racking and stacking network and telecom equipment.
  • Strong personal computer skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, along with solid time management and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • At least one year of verifiable driving experience as a licensed driver (a learner’s permit does not count), and no revocation of driving privileges.
