About The Position

TEKsystems Inc. is hiring a Telecommunications Technician for a six-month contract-to-hire project in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with the possibility of extension or permanent employment. The role is fully onsite and has a mandatory 50-hour work week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; a night shift is also available. The position pays $22.00 per hour. Benefits may be available subject to eligibility and include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) coverage, along with other listed plans and programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in telecommunications or a related field.
• Knowledge of telecommunications systems, including routers, switches, and cabling.
• Familiarity with VoIP, PBX systems, and network protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and requirements.
• Work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Technical certifications.
• Experience with cable installation, punchdown, cable pulling, Cat5/Cat6, or structured cabling.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications systems and equipment.
• Perform routine inspections and troubleshoot network issues.
• Configure and program telecommunications devices and systems.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless network connectivity.
• Provide technical support to end-users by diagnosing and resolving issues.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory and service activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
