About The Position

The Telecommunications Technician supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II). The candidate will provide support to monitor, install, and perform maintenance of associated networks, and end user equipment/peripherals. They will respond to user requests for assistance, perform on-the-spot diagnostic evaluations, implement corrections, and train users in proper equipment/network operations. This role also involves providing support and performing upgrades to platforms, training staff, and maintaining daily logs. The technician will provide 24/7 maintenance support, complete modifications, and installations of network and cryptographic equipment (i.e., KIV-7M/KG-175), and instruments (Secure Communications user items/peripherals). Additionally, they will provide network/end user item initial and recurring training for all users, update networks/equipment, ensure inventory accuracy, and keep the ticketing system up to date on network/system trouble tickets. Responsibilities include routing calls, transferring information, handling administrative duties, typing, checking, and recording information. The role also oversees the order and replacement of new hardware and software, including warranty claims, and performs and provides server, workstation, and system expertise, including on-site and off-site travel. Assistance in the development/implementation of system documentation and operating procedures, and research for the selection and installation of new network/switching equipment are also key functions.

Requirements

  • Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
  • 6 months of directly related experience working with telephone maintenance or similar systems
  • 1 year of work history.
  • IAT Level II Certification
  • One of the following: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP
  • Shift work is required to support 24×7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required including nights, weekends, and holidays on a modified Panama schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Digital Switching Systems - 2A Certification.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications Secure Voice Switched Network switch management/maintenance.
  • Secure Voice Responsible Officer and Telecommunications Control Officer experience.
  • Experience with Cryptographic/Communications Security (COMSEC) and COMSEC Responsible Officer requirements.
  • Operations planning and management in a real-time support environment.
  • Ability to prepare, objectively review, and deliver technical presentations.
  • Experience with technical knowledge capturing, training, and certification of personnel.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability with interfacing with customers at very high levels.
  • 1 year of related experience with modification, and installation of the secure Telecommunications Secure Voice Switched Network, cryptographic equipment (i.e., KIV-7M/KG-175), and end user peripherals.
  • Commercial Public Base eXchange and telephone switch experience.
  • Experience assisting with conferencing.

Responsibilities
