This position is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing various telecommunication and life safety systems. This includes cable, data, and telephone lines, networking systems, uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), and communication equipment. The role involves installing, testing, and maintaining low voltage copper communication systems, fiber optic communications systems, and television cable systems. Additionally, it includes designing, installing, testing, and maintaining community antenna televisions (CATV) and closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, as well as voice and data communication systems. A significant part of the role involves maintaining, inspecting, and repairing life safety and fire systems, including annual inspections and functional testing of components like smoke detectors, fire alarm control panels, and ADA devices. The position also requires maintaining and repairing electronic access control systems, including electronic locks, readers, and door hardware. Inventory management, procurement procedures, and administrative support are also key responsibilities. The specialist will retrieve and close out work orders, record system data, and assist with budget preparation. Training and collaboration with other technicians, vendors, and stakeholders are expected. The role also involves completing underground cable locates and participating in an on-call duty rotation for emergency situations.
