About The Position

Loyola Medicine, a member of Trinity Health, is a nationally ranked academic, quaternary care system based in Chicago's western suburbs. Its three-hospital system includes Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, and MacNeal Hospital. The Telecommunications Representative answers phones and manages paging, messaging, directory information, and general inquiries. The role screens physician calls, initiates medical teams for emergency code calls, records relevant details, assists security during disaster or emergency procedures, and supports the department’s disaster plan in case of equipment or network failure. The position works rotating schedules as required, Monday through Sunday, between 6:00 AM and 10:30 PM, with holiday and overnight shifts as needed (10:00 PM–6:30 AM).

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of previous job-related experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
Ability to problem-solve by critically evaluating information and implementing effective solutions.
A proactive approach to quality improvement and operational efficiency.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a healthcare or similar customer service role is preferred.

Responsibilities

Answer phones to manage paging, messaging, and general inquiries.
Provide information to referring physicians and members of the public seeking information about physicians and staff.
Provide directory information and assist with inquiries about staff, clinic services, office hours, and general information.
Screen physician calls and determine whether to transfer them to an office or nurse, or page the physician.
Initiate medical teams for emergency code calls and log all relevant details.
Assist security during disaster or emergency procedures.
Support and execute the department’s disaster plan in case of equipment or network failure.
