About The Position

The Telecom Engineer will support Bechtel’s Fab 62 project, an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility at Intel’s Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. The project includes engineering, procurement, and construction work to complete and finish out a leading-edge chipmaking facility.

The role conducts field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for telecommunications engineering. It coordinates engineering and construction/procurement activities and performs selected engineering tasks, ensuring work meets technical quality standards, cost, and schedule requirements. The engineer supports construction in the field, verifies facilities and systems are installed according to engineering specifications, and ensures design documents reflect as-built conditions. The position also manages construction hold points and inspection requirements, resolves field questions about field and design change notices, tracks facility scope changes, and performs site walkdowns.

The role reports to the Resident Engineering Manager and requires extensive technical knowledge in ICT-Telecommunication, engineering systems, design methods, materials, and relevant software. The discipline may include security and surveillance systems, ERRCS/DAS, and PAGA. A bachelor's degree or international equivalent with 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience, is required. RCDD certification or professional registration in a relevant engineering discipline is also required, as is previous experience or knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing design processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or international equivalent and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
• Extensive technical knowledge of ICT-Telecommunication systems, equipment, design methods, materials, and computers for preparing analyses and project design deliverables; the discipline may include security systems, surveillance systems, ERRCS/DAS, and PAGA.
• Extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, calculations, methods, materials, and software applications to produce cost-effective designs compliant with safety, health, and environmental regulations, customer requirements, codes, and standards.
• Working knowledge of engineering procedures, discipline deliverables, production and control, and Engineering Department organization and responsibilities.
• Thorough knowledge of business practices and project forecasting.
• Experience resolving complex technical problems and articulating explanations.
• Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
• RCDD certification or professional registration in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Previous experience or knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing design processes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Engineering and Construction/Procurement activities in accordance with technical quality standards, cost, and schedule.
• Perform selected engineering tasks in accordance with established technical quality standards, cost, and schedule.
• Ensure facilities and systems are installed in accordance with engineering specifications and requirements.
• Coordinate with the engineer of record and provide field support during construction.
• Ensure design documents reflect as-built conditions.
• Manage specification of construction hold points and inspection requirements.
• Coordinate resolution of field questions related to field change notices and design change notices.
• Ensure Resident Engineering tasks are completed within budget and process trends for facility scope changes.
• Perform site walkdowns.
• Conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for telecommunications engineering.
