Performs straight forward network architecture assignments under moderate direction. Uses knowledge to support the planning, researching, evaluating, designing, and developing network systems. Participates in configuration, installation, and performance analysis of networks. This role involves participating in the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems. The consultant will follow policies, practices, procedures, standards, and company rules relative to assignments, and comply with regulations and procedures required by external agencies. Responsibilities include preparing cost estimates for engineering assignments, documenting project work, analyzing network performance, troubleshooting technical problems, and following standard workflows for engineering projects. The role requires applying economic analysis techniques, adhering to budgeting and approval processes, and demonstrating knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities. Learning AEP's organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of one's organizational unit is also part of the role. An intermediate level of knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles is expected.
