About The Position

The Teen Staff (Floater - EPA Clubhouse) position at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) is designed to empower youth by providing them with equitable access to social, academic, and career opportunities. BGCP is the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, serving TK-College students across 30 sites. The organization's mission is to ensure that socio-economically disadvantaged students have the opportunities they need to thrive in school and beyond, offering high-quality academic programs, enrichment activities, and mental health services. The Teen Staff member will establish positive relationships with club members, help them develop problem-solving skills, and support their academic success. This role involves communicating information about events and activities, tracking program and membership data for reports, and completing administrative tasks as assigned by the Clubhouse Leader/Staff. The position is located at the East Palo Alto Clubhouse and reports to the Leadership Program Director.

Requirements

  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 for the duration of the academic year, while employed with BGCP
  • Attend all professional development classes
  • Attend all Teen Staff training
  • Work no more than the hours outlined on your work permit. If put on academic probation, teen staff are only allowed to work a max of 5 hours a week until they reach a GPA of 2.0

Responsibilities

  • Support various functions such as: front desk, kitchen, academic support, dance, social media, etc.
  • Guide memorable tours for donors, families and large groups.
  • Support distribution of meals
  • Track meals during dinner distribution per our food program guidelines
  • Clean up after all snack and dinner distribution
  • Help with set-up and clean-up of the Second Harvest as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of clubhouse spaces
  • Support the clubhouse’s social media properties (Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook, Soundcloud, Website)
  • Drive strategic vision for creative projects, producing two pieces of creative content per month
  • Manage equipment check-ins & outs, organize and maintain inventory
  • Build a team of junior media teens to support creative projects, develop skill-set of teammates
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

  • Sick Time: Part-time employees accrue sick time at a rate of 1 hour for every 20 hours worked, and may use up to 40 hours per year
