The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller is seeking volunteers for the Teen Court program. This program operates under St. Johns County Ordinance 2005-86 and is based on the principle that young people who commit criminal offenses are less likely to re-offend if judged and sanctioned by a jury of their peers. In Teen Court, a jury of teens does not determine guilt but provides a fair sentence to help the offender make better choices. Participation requires the juvenile offender to admit guilt and agree to participate voluntarily. The program is designed for first-time offenders who have committed misdemeanors and non-violent felony offenses. Successful completion of the sentence allows the offender to move forward without a criminal record. Applications can be submitted through the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Online Application System. The office is committed to equal employment opportunities and is a drug-free workplace.
