About The Position

Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school with a mission to prepare scholars for college and to foster service-minded leadership. As an Expeditionary Learning school, Alma provides a content-rich education within a highly demanding and supportive environment, focusing on mastery of knowledge and skills, character development, and high-quality student work. Located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Alma scholars consistently outperform their peers on standardized tests and have received national recognition for their work with English Language Learners. The Teacher Role is central to Alma's success, with co-curricular teachers responsible for ensuring scholars achieve at high levels and develop essential success habits. Co-curricular teachers are expected to create powerful, multidisciplinary learning experiences, plan and teach effective lessons, collaborate within a co-curricular team, and build strong relationships with families. The school offers support while allowing teachers autonomy to best serve their scholars and supports their long-term professional growth.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree
• At least one year of full time, K-12 teaching experience
• Proven effectiveness engaging all students
• A passion for working with kids and a belief that all kids can succeed
• Humility, resilience, and a hunger to learn and grow
• Strong team orientation
• Infectious joy
