About The Position

Develop students' skills and competence in industrial technology, specifically woodworking, home repair, residential plumbing and wiring and construction technology. This highly effective and AMAZING teacher will administer Career Connections curriculum (Carpenters International Training Fund Curriculum) as part of a Woodworking, Home Repair, and Residential Wiring and Plumbing course. They will also travel to, and work with, students on projects related to the curriculum at off-site construction sites as part of a Constructional Technology capstone course, and partner with the district and contractors to establish an apprenticeship program for students. The role involves promoting a safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small group instruction and student learning, developing lesson plans and instructional materials that promote critical and creative thinking and analysis, and translating lesson plans into learning experiences. The teacher will develop pertinent sequential assignments that challenge students, instruct students in properly and safely using and caring for industrial technology equipment, and conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs. Maintaining familiarity with district and Missouri standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests, continuously engaging in professional learning for the elevation of curriculum delivery, and organizing and maintaining a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and attendance as required by district procedures are also key responsibilities. The position also requires welcoming and encouraging parental involvement and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, and effectively engaging students at high levels to encourage a focus on academics.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate (or Missouri Career Education Certification)
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience teaching Career Connections preferred
  • Four thousand (4,000) hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years preferred
  • OSHA 10 Certification and experience teaching OSHA 10 certification course preferred
