About The Position

San Diego State University is seeking a Technology Support Specialist II to provide hands-on IT support across SDSU Imperial Valley campuses. In this role, you’ll help faculty and staff with the technology they rely on every day—from computers and software to classrooms, labs, audiovisual equipment, and connectivity. Your work will include troubleshooting technical issues, setting up and maintaining equipment, deploying computers and software, and helping users navigate their technology needs. If you enjoy solving problems, working directly with people, and having variety in the technology you support, this role offers the opportunity to put those skills to work as part of the SDSU Imperial Valley community. This position will work onsite at SDSU Imperial Valley Campuses (Calexico, CA & Brawley, CA), which are two hours east of SDSU Main Campus.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an information technology environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting a variety of software and hardware issues.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, software, operating systems, peripherals, and other technology.
  • Support technology used in offices, classrooms, labs, and other campus environments.
  • Assist with computer and software deployments, equipment moves, upgrades, and standardized configurations.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and system issues, coordinating with other IT teams when needed.
  • Work directly with faculty and staff to resolve technology issues and understand their support needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to users with varying levels of technology experience.
  • Collaborate with SDSU IT colleagues and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Document incidents and resolutions using ServiceNow.
  • Test and maintain software, security configurations, workstations, and other assigned technology.
  • Help identify and evaluate technology tools and equipment based on campus needs.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and reliable operation of technology across SDSU Imperial Valley.
