About The Position

The City of Gahanna is seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Support Specialist II to provide advanced desktop, infrastructure, and systems support while serving as a key technical resource for citywide technology initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with proven technical expertise, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the confidence to work independently in a fast-paced enterprise environment. The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($25.50 hourly - $31.24 hourly). Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of information technology or related experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, or a related field.
  • Acquire and maintain LEADS and NCIC certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Successfully complete OSSI CAD/RMS and Mobile Computer Terminal System Administrator training within two (2) years of hire.
  • Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna.

  • Experience with Public Safety is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and responds to Help Desk inquiries and support tickets in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provides tier 2 support to end users in a desktop, server, and infrastructure environment.
  • Responds to requests in a timely manner, which may require providing service outside of regular business hours.
  • Acts as project technical specialist on information technology projects.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of computer devices and other hardware.
  • Maintains phone system end devices and associated wiring; troubleshoot problems and make changes as needed.
  • Install new cabling, replace cabling, terminate, and test cabling.
  • Assists with training classes as necessary to support existing and emerging technologies.
  • Configure, manage, maintain, and report metrics for enterprise applications related to: Enterprise imaging system for PC deployment (Windows Deployment Toolkit - MDT), Mobile device management system for mobile devices (Jamf), Enterprise anti-virus, anti-malware systems, and Multi-Factor Authentication (Watchguard EPDR and Authpoint), Enterprise software deployment package (PDQ & PowerShell).
  • Evaluate, research, recommend, purchase, setup and test equipment, supplies, hardware, and software.
  • Works collaboratively with the Systems Administrator on configuration change management and maintenance of system images.
  • Develops work flows for system images and installation.
  • Creates and maintains documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Assists Systems Administrator and Network Administrator with tasks as necessary.
  • Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.
