The Technology Specialist provides technical support, services, and training to faculty, staff, students, and outside organizations for software, hardware, peripherals, and audio-visual equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring all classes, equipment, and community events, both on and off Collin College campuses, operate efficiently. Key responsibilities include assisting users with computer, Internet, wireless access, and media issues, as well as troubleshooting hardware, software, and audio-visual problems. The specialist will also facilitate conference center and campus events by setting up, running, and tearing down audio-visual equipment. Other duties involve setting up, installing, imaging, and maintaining equipment in assigned areas, monitoring emerging technologies, and making recommendations for new acquisitions. The position requires integrating new technologies into existing classroom, office, and conference center structures, maintaining accurate records on software, hardware, equipment utilization, and problems, and ensuring compliance with district policies and Technology Services standard operating procedures, including copyright laws. The specialist supports all faculty, staff, and college-owned student computers, documents all tickets in the ticketing system, remediates security threats, maintains inventory and active directory containers, and creates knowledge base articles. Additionally, the role assists with networking and telecommunications upon request and adheres to safety standards for electrical and mechanical equipment. All duties must be performed in accordance with college policies, procedures, and Core Values.
