The Technology Specialist is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and assuring the quality of shared technology solutions and infrastructure. This role partners with cross-functional teams to develop, test, launch, and continuously improve solutions that enhance Equitable’s service experience for internal and external clients. With a strong focus on quality assurance, this role supports business priorities by implementing testing strategies, improving system reliability, and enabling continuous delivery through effective testing, automation, and technical collaboration. Requirements

  • Post‑secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Foundational to intermediate experience in software quality assurance, including test planning, test execution, defect tracking, and quality control practices.
  • Hands‑on experience with test automation concepts, tools, and automated test execution.
  • Working knowledge of application infrastructure, technical platforms, and system dependencies.
  • Experience using testing and quality management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with automation and testing tools such as Selenium, SmartBear TestComplete, ReadyAPI, or equivalent technologies.
  • Working knowledge of development or scripting languages relevant to test automation and quality engineering.
  • Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills, with the ability to assess data, observations, and risks to support sound decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to share insights, provide constructive feedback, and tailor messages to different audiences.
  • A client‑focused and solution‑oriented mindset, with a commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes and positive service experiences.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset, including openness to feedback, continuous learning, and the pursuit of professional or industry knowledge beyond baseline requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality technology and quality assurance services by balancing efficiency, accuracy, and service commitments while escalating issues that require additional support.
  • Act as a client‑focused technology partner by collaborating with Business and IT stakeholders to support the design, testing, delivery, and ongoing improvement of shared systems and solutions.
  • Build, maintain, and execute test strategies, test plans, test cases, and automated test solutions to ensure solutions meet functional, technical, and quality standards.
  • Identify, analyze, document, and validate defects and quality risks through to resolution, supporting continuous improvement and operational stability.
  • Support production incidents and service requests, striving to resolve issues at first point of contact and ensuring outcomes meet client and business expectations.
  • Perform hands‑on testing, analysis, configuration, and troubleshooting activities to support system reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Inspect systems and processes to identify opportunities for improved workflows, efficiencies, and reduced operational risk.
  • Monitor test outcomes, system behaviour, and quality indicators to support informed decision‑making and adherence to established policies and standards.
  • Provide clear, professional, and tailored communication when explaining technical issues, quality risks, and solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and feedback with peers to support team capability, continuous learning, and improved delivery outcomes.
  • Follow established processes and procedures while identifying potential gaps or risks that could expose the organization to operational or quality concerns.
  • Demonstrate agility and adaptability by responding positively to changing priorities, new information, and evolving delivery needs.
