About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Chief Information Officer, the Technology Manager leads and oversees assigned technology programs, services, projects, and staff. This role provides strategic and technical leadership for assigned technology functions and enterprise systems; develops and implements policies, standards, and procedures; manages budgets and contracts, and vendor relationships; and collaborates with City departments, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure reliable, well-governed technology services aligned with Citywide goals. The current vacancy is in the IT Project Management Office (PMO). This eligible list may be used to fill other vacancies for Technology Manager for the duration of the list.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, management information systems, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible professional and management experience in information technology, including responsibility for planning, implementing, supporting, and managing enterprise technology systems, services, or projects.
  • At least three (3) years of the required work experience must include supervisory or management responsibilities in project coordination, vendor management, or program oversight.
  • Valid California Class C driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees assigned technology programs, services, projects, and staff.
  • Provides strategic and technical leadership for assigned technology functions and enterprise systems.
  • Develops and implements policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Manages budgets and contracts, and vendor relationships.
  • Collaborates with City departments, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure reliable, well-governed technology services aligned with Citywide goals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all employees, customers, vendors and other City departments.
  • Model and practice the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • Develop necessary skills from on-the-job training and meet standards of performance for the classification by the end of the probationary period.
  • Work the necessary hours and times, including overtime as authorized for non-management staff, to complete goals, tasks, and objectives.
