About The Position

We are currently recruiting for a Technology Manager: Comonomers, worksite at Westlake, LA. Must put job code (AD2026) on resume. The Technology Manager will manage a small team of engineers, driving assignments from idea generation through to completion. This includes evaluating risks versus benefits of complex problems, ensuring process development and implementation align with company standards and budgets, and identifying and resolving technical operating/reliability issues. The role provides technical support to achieve business goals, improve profitability, reliability, and overall operations, and manages the technology and IP aspects of license or performance agreements. The position requires maintaining knowledge of unit performance relative to competitors and technologies, and providing technical expertise to enhance operational entity reliability. The Technology Manager will direct day-to-day operations of a continuous petrochemical manufacturing unit, overseeing process safety, environmental compliance, production reliability, quality performance, and operational efficiency. This involves managing complex chemical production processes with high temperature and pressure reactions, distillation, separation systems, utilities integration, and continuous manufacturing workflows. The role leads cross-functional technical teams and evaluates technical risks associated with process changes and projects. Troubleshooting complex process upsets and equipment failures is crucial. The manager will oversee and optimize plant equipment, utilize manufacturing systems for performance analysis, establish production plans, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and environmental permits is essential. The role also manages technology and intellectual property matters related to licensed chemical processes and supervises engineering and plant personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • 5 years of experience with developing and scaling-up similar ethylene oligomerization synthesis and product purification was gained.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the process development and implementation of projects & assignments per company processes, policies and procedures and within schedule & cost budgets.

  • Provide technical support to ensure reaching business goals, improve profitability, improve reliability and improve overall operation.
  • Manage the technology and IP aspects of any License or Performance Agreements.

  • Lead cross functional technical teams of process engineers, operations personnel, maintenance and reliability engineers, and environmental specialists.
  • Evaluate and manage technical risks associated with process changes, operational issues, and capital or improvement projects.
  • Troubleshoot complex process upsets, equipment failures, and reliability issues to minimize downtime and sustain production performance.
  • Oversee and optimize plant equipment including reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and control and instrumentation systems.
  • Utilize distributed control systems, advanced process control platforms, process historians, SAP, and other manufacturing systems to monitor, analyze, and improve plant performance.
  • Establish production plans and operational priorities based on business needs, feedstock availability, equipment capability, and customer demand.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield optimization, energy efficiency, cost reduction, environmental performance, and capacity enhancement.
  • Oversee maintenance activities, unit turnarounds, and startup and shutdown operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management requirements, EPA Risk Management Plan obligations, environmental permits, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Manage technology and intellectual property matters related to licensed chemical processes.
  • Supervise and provide technical leadership to engineering and plant personnel.
