About The Position

Vanguard's Technology Leadership Program, within the Investment Systems track, focuses on designing and supporting technology solutions crucial for the investment lifecycle, including portfolio management, trading, and data/operational systems. This program aims to empower participants to directly influence how Vanguard executes investment strategies and delivers client value. Through practical assignments and collaboration with business and technology partners, participants will gain insights into systems and workflows that enhance investment outcomes. The program is designed for self-starters who excel at solving complex problems and connecting technology to tangible impact. Participants will work with engineers, analysts, and investment professionals to deliver solutions that boost efficiency, aid decision-making, and strengthen Vanguard's investment capabilities. Opportunities for technical capstones, hackathons, and solution-oriented projects will foster both technical skills and leadership abilities. This is a two-year rotational development program for graduating college seniors seeking to develop technical expertise in Investment Systems and leadership skills. It includes three eight-month rotations within the Investment Systems IT division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with a concentration in computer science, computer engineering, IST, IT, CIS, or related technical/engineering subject matter required
  • Strong interest in financial services, investment systems, or how technology supports investing
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and/or leadership aspirations
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support systems that enable portfolio management, trading, and investment operations
  • Work with investment and financial data to support insights and decision-making
  • Partner with technology, data, and business teams to deliver solutions aligned to Vanguard’s investment strategy
  • Gain hands-on experience in software development and Agile methodologies in a dynamic environment
