About The Position

As an intern at Northern Trust, you will have the opportunity to build relevant skills, work on meaningful projects, and participate in a collaborative program designed to support your early career development. You will work directly with your team on day-to-day tasks while joining internship program events to develop new skills, network with senior leaders, and connect with fellow interns in the program. Through hands-on experience, meaningful project work, and exposure to a dynamic global business, you will begin to see how your interests can grow into a long-term career at Northern Trust. A recruiter will work with you to determine the best team placement given your interests, skill set, and relevant experience. Technology interns are fully integrated into engineering and technology teams, contributing to real financial solutions. Interns gain an inside look into the innovative technologies, practices, and business solutions that power a frontrunner in financial services.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or master’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Systems or specialization in Information Technology or related major at an accredited college/university.
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Curiosity about financial markets and interest in learning more about the financial services industry.
  • Proven analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking skills through coursework and/or previous internship experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects and extracurricular activities.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or curriculum in networking, operating systems, or virtualization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, automate, and support enterprise technology platforms across cloud, network, database, operating system, and middleware environments.
  • Contribute to scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions through infrastructure as code, automation, observability, and IT service management practices.
  • Gain a strong foundation in enterprise infrastructure, architecture, governance, and technology strategy.
  • Engage in automation via coding, including OS shell scripting, low-code automations, or other forms.
  • Utilize or develop generative AI capabilities.
