The IT Infrastructure department provides support to end users for basic computer, application, system, device, access, and hardware issues. They identify, research, and resolve technical problems, responding to telephones, email, and online requests. They document, track, and monitor problems using applicable systems and tools, serving as the first point of contact for end users seeking technical assistance. They may coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve user problems. Interns will be part of a team working together to accomplish daily tasks, taking on the same responsibilities as regular staff. They will quickly learn the current process, use published documentation, and work on customer support tickets to resolve end-user issues/requests. Responsibilities include supporting all production and development systems, troubleshooting, and resolution of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. They will generate tickets from inbound calls, emails, walk-in customers, and chat sessions, and record detailed progress and resolutions for all tickets accordingly. They will perform system software upgrades and install service packs and patches as needed. They will delve into and achieve an understanding of a problem or request to offer the most appropriate possible solution. They will configure, modify, and repair computer hardware including monitors, keyboards, and printers. They may perform various changes to user accounts via Active Directory. They will assist in creating and maintaining internal articles and/or documentation. They will maintain an inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses. They may assist with onboarding of new users. They will utilize software and hardware tools to identify, diagnose, and drive the resolution of problems and factors affecting network integrity. Interns will gain a solid understanding of the various tasks within an Information Technology (IT) Department, with a focus on IT Customer Support. As part of normal day-to-day activities, they will learn what the various IT roles encompass from Server, Networking, Applications, and Cyber Security.
