About The Position

This role involves evaluating new and emerging transmission technology developments to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, enhance reliability, and align with corporate objectives. The position requires participation in project teams and subcommittees for the adoption and integration of new technologies. It also includes representing and coordinating participation in EPRI programs, managing R&D portfolio investments, and developing budget recommendations. Collaboration with internal and external groups is essential to ensure alignment and effective communication in technology initiatives. The role leverages knowledge of engineering principles and industry practices for technology implementation and transmission policy, including the development of analysis, business cases, and strategic recommendations for management and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Six (6) years (four (4) years with a Professional Engineers (PE) license) in electric utility or power systems environment with three (3) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills (for IV).
  • Eight (8) years (six (6) years with a Professional Engineers license) in electric utility or power systems environment with seven (5) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills (for V).
  • Ten (10) years (eight (8) years with a Professional Engineers license) in electric utility or power systems environment with seven (7) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills (for VI).
  • Ten (10) years in electric utility or power systems environment with ten (6) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills (Equivalent Experience for IV).
  • Twelve (12) years in electric utility or power systems environment with eight (8) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills (Equivalent Experience for V).
  • Fourteen (14) years in electric utility or power systems environment with ten (10) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills (Equivalent Experience for VI).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, presentation and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supports, oversees, or provides senior leadership in the evaluation of new and emerging transmission technology developments.
  • Participates in or leads efforts in the adoption and integration of new and emerging transmission technologies.
  • Represents GTC and coordinates GTC's participation in EPRI.
  • Manages GTC's EPRI participation, prioritizes R&D portfolio investments, and develops budget recommendations.
  • Collaborates closely with Green Power EMC, Member Systems, and OPC/GSOC as well as external industry groups to ensure alignment and effective communication in the development and execution of technology initiatives.
  • Leverages knowledge of engineering principles and industry practices in performing assignments related to technology implementation and transmission policy.
  • Supports, provides, or develops analysis, business cases, and recommendations for management and executive review regarding current and future technology advancements.
  • Develops strategic recommendations, advises Executive Management on technology priorities, and shapes investment decisions for technology initiatives.
