About The Position

Materion is hiring a Technology and Innovation Engineer II for refractory metal-based alloy and process development. The position is based in Newton, Massachusetts and reports to the Technology and Innovation Lead. The engineer will develop, coordinate, execute, and report on complex or unique development efforts involving tantalum and niobium alloys and processing. The role collaborates with internal functions, especially production, and with external vendors and suppliers to complete R&D projects. It also applies problem-solving and process-improvement methods to existing and new tantalum and niobium materials and processes, and uses internal capabilities and external vendors to process raw materials to meet or exceed customer specifications and internal standards. The engineer supports Materion’s tantalum and niobium product lines in collaboration with designated Sales and Marketing personnel, and pursues and protects intellectual property rights as appropriate. Candidates must meet the stated export-compliance eligibility conditions to access U.S.-controlled technology subject to ITAR and EAR. Any job offer requiring export-license approval is conditional on Materion determining that the license can be obtained within a timeframe consistent with business requirements.
