About The Position

Southwest Airlines is seeking motivated individuals for their Summer 2027 Technology Analyst Internship program. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real-time projects, collaborate with diverse teams, and support key company initiatives. Interns will gain hands-on experience in areas such as requirements gathering, solution testing, user training, and deployment activities, contributing to the advancement of Southwest's technology landscape. The program emphasizes learning, professional development, and making a tangible impact within the Technology Department. Interns will be expected to communicate effectively, presenting technical information in both user-friendly and technical terms, and will play a role in shaping the future of the Technology Team.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process.
  • Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree or graduate degree is required.
  • To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as defined by your university) at the time of application and during the internship.
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application is required.
  • Coursework or experience with AWS and/ or other cloud services.
  • Coursework or experience with application monitoring and observability tools such as AWS X-Ray.
  • Coursework or experience using Jira, SharePoint, or similar collaboration and work management tools.
  • Coursework or experience with Microsoft Copilot and AI productivity tools.
  • Coursework or experience with Agile principles, project-based work.
  • Coursework or experience related to project management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate programming aptitude and ability for logical and abstract thinking.
  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments under tight deadlines preferred.
  • Previous internship or work experience as a Technology Analyst Intern within the past 12 months preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, Customer service-oriented environment with a high regard for hospitality.
  • Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communications skills preferred.
  • Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous, and compassionate preferred.
  • 1-2 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of business applications by participating in requirements gathering, solution testing, user training, and deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, project teams, and technology professionals to deliver solutions that improve operational efficiency and support critical business processes.
  • Support projects that impact Flight Attendants, Pilots, Crew Scheduling, and other critical Crew systems.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Product Leaders, Solution Architects, and Technology Teams while gaining exposure to Agile delivery practices, project planning, portfolio management, financial planning, stakeholder communication, and strategic technology initiatives.
  • Work with business Customers to conduct needs analysis relative to systems and business processes in order to create quality technical solutions.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with internal tooling, business strategies and comply with departmental standards.
  • Manage timeframes for designing, coding, testing, and implementing to ensure solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Serve as a resource to ensure effective communications between business and Technology Teams.
  • Participate in systems and acceptance testing.
