The Technology Analyst Intern should be a strong communicator and collaborator, capable of presenting ideas in both technical and user-friendly terms while helping shape the future of Southwest’s Technology Team. Technology Analyst Interns supporting the Technology Workforce Strategy team will offer a hands-on experience supporting workforce analytics, strategic planning, reporting, data quality, and capacity planning initiatives that help Technology achieve its priorities. Interns will collaborate with Technology leaders, HR Business Partners, FP&A, and workforce management stakeholders to support key business decisions. The role provides exposure to senior leadership and enterprise-wide workforce strategy efforts. This internship is an opportunity to develop skills at the intersection of technology, business, and strategic planning while helping ensure the right talent is aligned to the organization's needs.

Requirements

  • Coursework or experience using Excel, Tableau, or similar data visualization and reporting tools
  • Coursework or experience in Quickbase
  • Coursework or experience to data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or process improvement concepts
  • Coursework or experience with Workday fundamentals
  • Coursework or experience with Agile principles, project-based work
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process
  • This position requires authorization to work in the United States as a permanent employee without sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments under tight deadlines preferred
  • Previous internship or work experience as a Technology Analyst within the past 12 months preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, Customer service-oriented environment with a high regard for hospitality
  • Demonstrate programming aptitude and ability for logical and abstract thinking
  • Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communications skills preferred
  • Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous, and compassionate preferred
  • 1-2 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with business Customers to conduct needs analysis relative to systems and business processes in order to create quality technical solutions.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with internal tooling, business strategies and comply with departmental standards.
  • Manage timeframes for designing, coding, testing, and implementing to ensure solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Serve as a resource to ensure effective communications between business and Technology Teams.
  • Participate in systems and acceptance testing.
