About The Position

PAML, a Labcorp company, is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join its team in Spokane, Washington. The trainee works in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging laboratory environment, learning to perform special chemistry testing procedures and supporting Labcorp’s mission of improving health and improving lives. The schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Overtime and additional days or hours may be required. The pay range is $21.00 to $22.00 per hour, plus third-shift differentials. Offers are based on skills, relevant experience, degrees and certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
High level of attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Exceptional customer service.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working under minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of prior experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory.

Responsibilities

Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with specimen processing when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
