About The Position

The incumbent of this position works closely with teaching staff. They prepare practical experiments, exercises, and learning activities that allow students to master the concepts taught in a course or program. They provide specialized technical support in complex situations requiring a high degree of autonomy, judgment, and expertise. They use their skills to serve teaching and administrative staff and the student population to recommend the best-suited services and methods for their needs.

Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in mechanics or any other related field
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • Mastery of spoken and written French and good knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to evaluate various files
  • Excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude for independent work and teamwork, as needed
  • Enthusiasm, diplomacy, and initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate with diverse individuals
  • Good judgment, organizational skills, and analytical ability
  • Knowledge of computers and commercial software (word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting and moving heavy objects up to approximately 40 lb, as well as performing manual tasks such as shoveling snow.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory experiments for teaching staff
  • Assist teaching staff in presenting the practical elements of the course
  • Supervise students and ensure health and safety rules are respected
  • Participate in the development of teaching tools based on given concepts
  • Design and develop equipment, systems, facilities, and materials, etc., to meet user needs according to expected results
  • Evaluate equipment and other resources and make recommendations before purchase and for budget use
  • Control inventory of supplies
  • Maintain records on equipment and perform fault detection and troubleshooting
  • Order spare parts
  • Perform regular maintenance of the aforementioned equipment and daily minor repairs
  • Clean workshops and organize tools
  • Ensure the safety of the premises by conducting patrols and inspections
