About The Position

Mecademic develops compact, high-precision, and innovative robotic automation solutions for the electronics and life sciences sectors. Our ultra-compact robotic arms are used worldwide by OEMs, system integrators, and end-users for tasks requiring precision and reliability in automation. Reporting to the finance team, the Accounting Technician plays a key role in managing the company's full accounting cycle. This position requires strong expertise in daily accounting operations, month-end closures, and comfort working within a manufacturing ERP environment.

Requirements

  • DEC or AEC in Accounting (a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting will also be considered).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Mandatory experience in the manufacturing sector and working with an ERP system.
  • Professional English proficiency (written and spoken) required for US interactions and accounts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas) and proficiency with Google Workspace.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Knowledge of US sales tax regulations and rules.
  • Rigor and Accuracy: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record vendor invoices (accounts payable).
  • Perform 3-way matching between purchase orders (POs), receiving slips, and invoices.
  • Prepare vendor payment batches and process customer cash receipts.
  • Record and monitor expense reports.
  • Assist with various invoicing tasks.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking.
  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries (prepaid expenses, depreciation, accruals, liabilities, etc.).
  • Balance the trial balance with sub-ledgers.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare and file government remittances for Canadian taxes (GST/QST) as well as US tax filings and requirements.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance department.
