About The Position

The main responsibilities are melting/sample mixing, fusions, and cupellation. Specific tasks and responsibilities include all FT-1 tasks, and under the supervision of pyroanalysis, ensuring and coordinating production activities and managing the work team to achieve production, quality, and health and safety results. The role holder can independently perform routine pyroanalysis tasks, teach basic pyroanalysis procedures, and maintain and support pyroanalysis inventory. They will also perform assays in the absence of FT1, be skilled in resolving basic problems, performing maintenance, and resolving major issues. The role holder is capable of performing non-routine tasks, is skilled in using GEMS for corrections, and ensures correct application of products and methods in accordance with all safety rules. Other tasks assigned by the director, assistant director, or supervisors may also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication in French (written and verbal); English would be an asset
  • Prepare and present information in an orderly and instructive manner
  • Capable of controlling the chemical reactions of a fire assay
  • Attention to detail
  • Promote safety
  • Highly motivated, autonomous, and capable of working in a team
  • Diploma in chemistry or equivalent
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (assistance from another employee/lifting equipment is mandatory if the amount exceeds 50 pounds)
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to act with tact and diplomacy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sample preparation for fire assays or knowledge in geology would be assets

Responsibilities

  • All FT-1 tasks
  • Under the responsibility of pyroanalysis supervision, ensure and coordinate production activities and manage the work team to achieve production, quality, and health and safety results.
