The Technician, Critical Power/Data Center Services installs, maintains, tests, and troubleshoots UPS systems, batteries, switchgear, PDUs, and other mission-critical electrical equipment. This is a field-service role involving substantial travel, including overnight and out-of-state work, and participation in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support. The position reports to the Regional Service Manager or designee and has no direct reports. The technician performs preventive maintenance, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and corrective actions; reads electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, MOPs, and OEM procedures; uses electrical and battery test equipment safely; and documents service work and communicates findings to customers. Performance is assessed through measures that include safety, efficiency, billable time, work order completion, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution. Work takes place at varied customer facilities, including data centers, refineries, power plants, telecom headends, and hospitals. High-voltage AC/DC exposure is common. The role requires wearing PPE, carrying tools, working safely around electrical equipment, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 100 pounds. Travel may involve driving across state lines and compliance with applicable DOT requirements.
